Biografia

Chiara Marra is a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino, where her research focuses on fair trade, social impact assessment, and sustainable value chains from a management engineering perspective. Her work investigates how ethical principles and social objectives are translated into governance structures and impact measurement systems within social enterprises and fair trade organizations.
Her research adopts both quantitative and qualitative approaches. On the quantitative side, she works with original datasets related to fair trade organizations to analyze compliance with ethical principles, governance characteristics, and sustainability practices. On the qualitative side, she is involved in the development and refinement of social impact assessment frameworks and evaluation tools, as well as in case-based research with social enterprises, startups, and impact-oriented organizations.
Affiliated with the Social Innovation Teams (SIT) and the Social Innovation Monitor (SIM), Chiara also contributes to applied research on the Italian social innovation ecosystem. Her activities include collaboration with external stakeholders, incubators, and practitioners, as well as the production of reports and tools aimed at supporting policymakers, social enterprises, and third-sector organizations.
Overall, her research aims to strengthen the role of fair trade and impact assessment as strategic levers for innovation, governance, and sustainability, contributing to the design of more inclusive, transparent, and impact-driven value chains.
