Biography
Roberta Pappalardo received her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in March 2017. In July 2019, she obtained cum laude the Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (Bionanotechnology field) with a thesis entitled "Design of stimuli responsive polyurethane-based hydrogels for 3D printing application” (under the supervison of Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli, Prof. Valeria Chiono, Prof. Monica Boffito). The thesis work aimed on poly(ether urethane) development as smart polymeric materials able to respond to three different stimuli (i.e., temperature, pH and UV-Vis light) and suitable as bioinks for the fabrication of three-dimensional scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. Part of these activities produced a research paper in international peer-review journal. From February to October 2020, she worked as research fellow in the Bioengineering Group at Politecnico di Torino under the supervision of Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli focusing on the design of gelatin methacryloyl-based bioinks for 3D bioprinting. From November 2020 Roberta is Ph.D. student in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences at Politecnico di Torino and Università degli Studi di Torino under the supervision of Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli, Prof. Valeria Chiono, Prof. Monica Boffito. Her reasearch activity mainly concern the design of injectable hydrogels based on Schiff-base linkages as a promising platform for in situ drug delivery and tissue engineering. During her Ph.D. she has been involved in the European H2020 Project “Development of Extracellular Vesicles loaded hydrogel coatings with immunomodulatory activity for promoted regenerative osseointegration of revision endoprosthesis (EVPRO)” working on the preparation of bioactive gelatin-based bioinks for the design of osteoblast/osteoclast co-culture 3D model.
