Biography

My main research topic is the geophysical characterization of the subsurface (embankments, geothermal systems, aquifers, permafrost, archaeological remains) through electrical and electromagnetic methods and the processing of geophysical data by means of computational intelligence methods (swarm intelligence and genetic algorithms). I am also devoted to the geophysical characterization of innovative and low-impact grouts for tunneling. My research collaborations are with academic institutions and national/international companies (CNR, Techgea, Fugro). I focused on the 3D characterization of geothermal systems by means of magnetotelluric and time-domain electromagnetic data and on joint optimization of multiple geophysical data sets. I joined geophysical exploration projects in Italy, Spain, Cape Verde and Svalbard Islands.
