Abstract
As the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is spreading worldwide, Europe is trying to increase its competitiveness in the new technology. Innovative European researchers in machine learning (ML) and AI have been working together to improve research collaborations and engage industry and society. The EU-funded ELISE project aims to increase Europe’s competitiveness in ML and AI through a network of excellence. It will run a PhD and a postdoc programme to attract world-class talents to Europe. Moreover, it will operate a Fellows programme for ground-breaking research and organise high-profile workshops to develop AI application methods further. Industry involvement is guaranteed by the many connections of the ELISE members.
