Abstract

Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) enable collective energy actions that aim to support the energy transition , transforming energy consumption across all economic, environmental and social dimensions. Today, photovoltaic (PV)-based communities, in particular, face major profitability challenges due to inefficiencies in design, operation, and market integration. Many RECs lack expertise and tools for optimal PV systems sizing and accurate simulation, operation and planning, leading to poorly aligned investments and underperforming installations. These gaps lead to financial inefficiencies and missed revenue opportunities, undermining profitability. INNO-TREC – INNOvative Transactive Renewable Energy Communities – aims to revolutionise the energy value transactions within RECs with a groundbreaking energy credits platform incorporated into its reference architecture, integrating advanced tools and fostering social and technological adoption, boosting the profitability of community-aggregated systems.
