Abstract
This test bed aims to evaluate electric motors made with recycled materials from their technical performance, and considering LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) of the final product, circular manufacturing processes and by embedding a Digital Twin to support AI-driven analytics. Additionally, the test bed will incorporate motor fast re- design tools which will allow to consider the recycled part characteristics, their production processes and how the long-time performances can be affected due to the use of recycled motor parts. The testbed is a federation of existing test rigs interconnected among them and powered by new sensors measuring recycled components behaviours in e-motors. It will evaluate KPIs of the recycled motor in holistic point of view with LCA techniques, providing services to SMEs, vehicle assembly companies, small-to-large motor suppliers and appliance/machinery manufacturers. The e-motor magnet recycling will cover a part of the future aiming at significantly reducing the dependency from non-EU suppliers regarding to magnet production. Not only magnets, but also other active parts like copper conductors, or magnetic cores and shafts will be included in the test bed beyond 2022.
