Abstract
The collaboration between RMIT and POLITO is based on stable, academic and institutional cooperation. POLITO has a cotutelle agreement in place with RMIT with the aim of promoting scientific collaboration through the mobility of PhD candidates and on the impulse of the tutors who undertake to jointly oversee the candidate. The agreement was initially negotiated between POLITO and RMIT to undertake doctoral research towards the qualification of Doctoral of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering awarded by RMIT and POLITO, in particularly in the general area of research of “Aircraft structural design and analysis”. In 2019 there were two PhD candidates involved in this cotutelle agreement between POLITO and RMIT. The intention is to broaden the scope of collaboration between POLITO and RMIT, expanding into the area of nanotechnology with a focus on photonics for biosensing. On 2018 POLITECNICO was funded by a FESR Project for the creation of new technological lab for realization of sensors and biosensor and related electronics. The subjects of research which can be included span from nanodevices for biological application as lab on chip to nanosystems for biodetection photonic based. POLITO will therefore support two positions within the REDI Cofund program, one in the area of aerospace engineering and the other in the area of nanobiosensing. In both cases, the doctoral students shall apply to and meet the entry requirements to be admitted as a doctoral student at both RMIT and POLITO. POLITO will host 2 doctoral Researchers at POLITO facilities in Italy under full-time employment contracts appropriate for doctoral research activities. The Researchers will be employed for the entire period of their doctoral training, up to a maximum of 4 years from date of commencement of their employment contract.
