Profile

Biography

During my PhD, I investigated the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying microRNA-mediated cardiac regeneration, focusing on the biological processes involved in cardiac tissue repair. My research subsequently expanded to the development of physiologically relevant three-dimensional in vitro models for cardiac regeneration and the design of nanoparticle-based delivery systems for microRNAs and other therapeutic molecules, with the aim of advancing innovative regenerative medicine strategies. In 2024, I was awarded a Fondazione Umberto Veronesi Fellowship for a research project focused on the development of microRNA-based therapeutic approaches for esophageal cancer. As part of this project, I am developing advanced three-dimensional tumor models to investigate novel treatment strategies for advanced-stage esophageal cancer. My research combines expertise in bioengineering, cell and molecular biology, biomaterials, and nanomedicine to develop advanced experimental models and innovative therapeutic platforms for regenerative medicine and oncology. I collaborate on national and international research projects and contribute to teaching activities within the Master's Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino.
