Biography

Emanuele Virgillito is Ph.D. student in Electric, Electronic and Communication Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. He currently works with the Optical Communications (OptCom) research group in Politecnico di Torino.
Emanuele Virgillito was born in Catania on the 29th June 1989. He received the Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering from Università di Catania in 2013. In academic year 2013/2014 he enrolled in the MSc program in Telecommunications engineering, with specialization in Information Technologies and Signal Processing in Politecnico di Torino. Between October 2015 and July 2016 he wrote his MSc thesis at instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisboa on the performance limitations of uncoupled multicore optical fibers with QAM modulations. He gained the master degree in July 2016 at Politecnico di Torino.
After have gained a one year research grant (September 2016), Emanuele is currently working as a Ph.D. student in the field of optical transmission systems, with focus on the optimization of legacy Direct-Detection systems and their study in a elastic optical network context.
Emanuele is also a DJ and music lover. Other interests are travels, books, cinema and cooking.
