Biography
Born in Palermo in 1965, and graduated MSc cum laude in Mechanical Engineering in 1988, Prof. Luca Settineri becomes Researcher of National Research Council in 1990. He obtains his PhD in Production Engineering in 1994. Assistant Professor of Manufacturing Technologies in the Politecnico di Torino since 1994, Prof. Settineri becomes Associate Professor in the same field in 2000 and Full Professor in 2011. He has taught Mechanical Technologies, Computer Assisted Manufacturing, Mechanical Design and Fabrication, Mechanical Fabrication of Biomedical Devices, Production Systems, Sustainable Manufacturing for Politecnico di Torino, Université Catholique de Leuvain La Neuve, Tongji University of Shanghai, to students of the first, second and third (PhD) level. Today, he teaches Analysis and Management of Productive Systems for the Master of Science in Engineering and Management and teaches Fabrication Technology and Systems in the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering of Politecnico di Torino. He has been Visiting Professor in the following Universities: University of Michigan Stuttgart Universitaet Université Catholique de Leuvain La Neuve Tongji University of Shanghai. He has been member of the Board of Directors of Politecnico di Torino in the years 1998-2000 and member of the Academic Senate in the years 2006-2012. He has been from 2010 to 2015 Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Management, Production and Design of Politecnico di Torino. He has been from 2015 to 2018 Head of the Department of Management and Production Engineering of Politecnico di Torino. He is currently Vicerector for Policy Planning and Implementation of Politecnico di Torino since 2018. He is Fellow Member of CIRP (College International pour La Recherche en Productique), of AITEM (Associazione Italiana di Tecnologia Meccanica), and of MRS (Materials Research Society). He is fluent in English and French, written and spoken. Mothertongue Italian.
