Biography

Associate Professor of Architectural Restoration (ICAR/19) at the Department of Architecture and Design of the Politecnico di Torino. He obtained his PhD in Cultural Heritage in 2011. In the same year, he received his professional architect qualification and registered with the Architects' Association of the Province of Turin, beginning his professional career. Since 2011, he has held university teaching positions in the architecture degree programs at the Politecnico di Torino. He has been a visiting professor or has taught at the Aleppo University of Architecture (2011), the Pratt Institute in New York (2015), Yildirim Beyazit University in Ankara (2018, 2021), and the University of Architecture in Belgrade (2019). Since 2019, he has been a member of the PhD Board in Architectural and Landscape Heritage (POLITO). He is a founding member of the international research center FoRS – Focus on Ruskin Studies (Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia) and of PerspectLAB - Laboratory for the Theory, Creation and Politics of Space (Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade), and serves on scientific and editorial committees for national and international series and journals. He is responsible for the research projects Co.R.A.Ve. (Conservation of Archaeological Ruins in Vegetal Contexts) and Co.Co.WAR (Dissonant Heritage and War: Conservation and Communication of a Difficult Legacy). He is the author of monographs and scientific articles on topics related to the conservation of existing structures, restoration, and the enhancement of cultural heritage. His research focuses on the conservation of ruined buildings, the enhancement of historical architecture, restoration theory, and the protection and conservation of dissonant heritage related to war and/or interpretative conflicts.
