The world of Research

The Politecnico is a "Research University" aknowledgeded as a centre of excellence in all over the world for the qualifying research areas of Architecture and Engineering. The development of the fields of excellence, the investment on frontier subjects, and also the support to the curiosity driven research allow a virtuous mix of basis and applied research.

Research activities, in particular, are structured in four macro-areas: Industrial Engineering; Information Technology; Management and Mathematical Engineering; Civil, Environmental, Architecture and Design Engineering.

Concerning those fields, the University aims at networking with the socio-economical context and at opening new partnerships with companies and multinationals (about 800 research agreements per year). That's why, in the Cittadella Politecnica, the Business Research Center (BRC) was opened. Here, the University gives room for offices and laboratories for innovation in partnership and technological transfer. General Motors, ST Microelectronics, Indesit, Avio, Pirelli, Prima Industrie and more are only some examples of multinationals that today are hosted here.

The Politecnico is more and more engaged in increasing its participation in European, national and regional research projects.
