Biography

Alberto Martín-Pérez, Ph.D., is researcher at DISAT. His work focuses on the detection and measurement of different physical phenomena at the nanoscale, as well as the application of those methods to different fields (with special interest in biological applications).

Graduate in physics, he began his research career as Ph.D. candidate at CSIC’s Institute of Micro and Nanotechnology (IMN-CSIC) in 2016. In July 2021 he obtained his Ph.D. at the Autonomous University of Madrid with the cum laude mark for his thesis “Transparent Microcapillary Resonator for the Multiparametric Characterization of Cells”. As a result of this work, he published 5 articles at international scientific journals, registered 2 patents, made 7 contributions at international conferences and received the award of most relevants thesis presented at CSIC during 2021. In 2021 he errolled the Optomechanics Lab at Madrid's Institute of Materials' Science (ICMM-CSIC) to develop new techniques the development of new optomehcanical methods for the detection and measurement of different physical phenomena at the nanoscale, as well as the application of those methods to different fields (communications, pollutants detection, biological particle detection...). Since february 2023 he is researcher at PoliTo.

In addition to his researcher career, Martín-Pérez, takes part in dissemination activities frequently, having participated in more than 25 activities up to the date (february 2023). Some of these activities are, talks for high school students, workshops for general public or articles in non-specialized media. Moreover, in November 2021, he won a dissemination award in the Spanish edition of the contest I’m a Scientist (organized by FECYT and Gallomanor), which has allowed him to lead his own dissemination project: Doctor Berti.
