Biography

Federico Cavallaro (PhD) is associate professor in Transport at the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning of the Politecnico di Torino and member of the Transport Research for Innovation and Sustainability research group (TRIS). From 2010 to 2019, he collaborated with Eurac Research as project manager of several EU-funded projects, senior researcher, leader of the research group “Sustainable mobility” and consultant of the Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano. He was member of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Sustainable Industry, Energy, Transport and Infrastructure, member of the iMONITRAF! Platform, national expert for the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea Protection at the transport working group of the Alpine Convention and at the Action Group 4 (inter-modality and interoperability in passenger and freight transport) of Eusalp. He has been collaborating with Università IUAV di Venezia since 2012, firstly as teaching assistant in “Transport” and in “Transport Planning” and as scientific consultant for European MED and Adrion projects, then as aggregate professor in Transport. His scientific interests include the assessment of infrastructural impacts on the territory, transport externalities (mostly GHG emissions), the assessment of transport systems, infrastructures and mobility plans, freight transport (with a focus on combined transport and the integration of passenger and freight transport), the evaluation of the quality of public transport, mobility in low-demand areas and the accessibility. His research activity is documented by more than 60 papers, published mostly at international level.
