IASS 2026 Symposium and IWSS 2026 joint conference
The IASS 2026 Symposium and IWSS 2026 joint conference will be held in Turin.
This event will bring together leading experts, scholars, and professionals from around the world to share their insights and advancements in the fields of shell and spatial structures.
The event will host discussions about sustainable practices that ensure structural design to be not only efficient and beautiful, but also environmentally responsible. Participants will be encouraged to imagine how adaptive reuse in the context of shell and spatial structures breathes new life into old buildings, turning historical spaces into contemporary marvels. The main conference aim is to promote the academic and professional discussion about cutting-edge design paradigms that challenge and expand the boundaries of structural and architectural innovation.

2 – The Sabaudian City: Power, Architecture and Urban Vision
Organized in collaboration with Prof. Edoardo Piccoli and Prof. Erica Lenticchia of the Construction History Group at Politecnico di Torino, this guided tour invites participants to discover the structural audacity and spiritual ambition of Early modern and 19th-century brick architecture in Turin, where complex geometries and sophisticated masonry construction converge in some of the city’s most celebrated domes and vaults.
The tour will cover Cupola di San Lorenzo, Cappella della Sacra Sindone, Mole Antonelliana, Teatro Regio.

3 – Contemporary Turin: Large-Scale Structures, Architecture and Urban Transformation
This technical tour introduces a selection of contemporary public buildings and large-scale venues in Turin. The itinerary is conceived for the IASS-IWSS community, with emphasis on spatial structures, long-span systems, multifunctional buildings, adaptive reuse, stadium design, institutional architecture and the role of major projects in urban transformation. The selected buildings offer complementary readings of Turin: Olympic legacy and post-event reuse; academic and civic spaces; contemporary sports infrastructure; and new institutional landmarks. Each stop should be presented not only through its architectural image, but also through questions of structural logic, environmental performance, access, flexibility, operation, and lifecycle.
The tour will cover Inalpi Arena, Campus Luigi Einaudi, Oval Lingotto, Allianz Arena.
