Second Week of Mission in Japan for the Japan Hub Director and Project Research Manager
The second week of the institutional mission in Japan, which took place from 15 to 19 June, was dedicated to strengthening relationships with Japanese universities in the Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya areas.
On 15 June, the delegation visited the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University. During the meeting, Professor Masaharu Komori was awarded a Japan Hub Academy Fellow certificate in recognition of his membership in the Academy and his contribution to the initiative’s academic network.
The following day, the Japan Hub Director and the Project Research Manager visited the Kyoto Institute of Technology, a strategic partner of Politecnico di Torino through student mobility programmes and the double-degree programme within the Master's Degree in Materials Engineering. The delegation was welcomed by the staff of the International Affairs Office and several faculty members, including Professor Wataru Sakai, a member of the Japan Hub Academy. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to review ongoing joint activities and discuss new avenues for expanding collaboration between the two institutions.
On 17 June, the delegation visited The University of Osaka, with which Politecnico di Torino maintains long-standing partnerships through student exchange agreements with the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Engineering. Over the years, these agreements have fostered significant scientific collaborations between faculty members and researchers from both institutions, contributing to the strengthening of academic and research ties between Italy and Japan. During the visit, Professor Yasumasa Fujisaki was also awarded a Japan Hub Academy Fellow certificate in recognition of his recent appointment to the Academy.
