New support measure for enrolled PhD candidates from conflict-affected areas
We would like to inform you that the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors of the Politecnico di Torino have approved a support measure for PhD candidates who are already enrolled in a doctoral program at the University and who come from countries affected by armed conflict.
This initiative reflects the University's commitment to supporting those who, due to the consequences of conflict in their country of origin, may face difficulties in continuing their research activities and progressing regularly through their doctoral studies.
The measure aims to ensure continuity of the doctoral program by preventing interruptions to students' academic careers, preserving their PhD candidate status, and, where applicable, maintaining the continuity of their scholarship.
Specifically, starting today, eligible candidates may request a six-month postponement of the annual evaluation milestones in their doctoral program (progression to the next year or admission to the final examination). Where necessary, this postponement will also result in a corresponding extension of the overall duration of the PhD program, allowing candidates to make up for time lost due to difficulties related to the conflict situation.
Any extension at the end of the doctoral program will be funded by the University through dedicated resources and will not be charged to the Supervisor's research funds.
The measure is available to PhD candidates who are enrolled and hold citizenship in one of the countries identified according to the official international lists adopted by the University:
