Procedure and requirements for admission

Procedure

Applicants are required to submit their application for admission online on the Apply@polito platform.

All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee (€ 30,00) for each application submitted (one application per each PhD programme).

After submitting the application, no changes are allowed. It will not be possible to upload any other document.

Requirements

Applications are open to Italian and foreign citizens who meet the following requirements by the deadline of each session of the call:

Ordinary Call for Applications
a)	Master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale) or Laurea specialistica or academic degree belonging to the university system pre-dating M.D. no. 509 of 3rd November 1999, as amended by M.D. no. 270 of 22nd October 2004 – with minimum final grade: 95/110.	Academic qualification valid for admission to a PhD programme in their country with the minimum average grade of the exams as illustrated in Annex 2 of the Call.
b)	English language certificate – level B2 (valid regardless of the date of conferral) as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The language certificates accepted by Politecnico di Torino are available at https://didattica.polito.it/cla/en/certificates, clicking on “Table of 23/09/2019 updated on 22/12/2022”. Certificates which are not listed in the above-mentioned table will not be accepted. Applicants with an Italian or foreign academic qualification, who fall into one of the cases of exemptions listed in Annex 3 of the Call, are not required to present the English language certificate.

Applicants with an academic qualification (2nd level) obtained abroad

a)

Academic qualification valid for admission to a PhD programme in their country with the minimum average grade of the exams as illustrated in Annex 2 of the Call.

b)

English language certificate – level B2 (valid regardless of the date of conferral) as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Applicants with an Italian or foreign academic qualification, who fall into one of the cases of exemptions listed in Annex 3 of the Call, are not required to present the English language certificate.

Applicants who still do not have the required academic qualification and/or the English language certificate on the deadlines indicated in art. 7, par. 1 are allowed to apply as long as they meet both requirements by and no later than:

30th April 2024 for participation in the selection process of the first session;
31st October 2024 for participation in the selection process of the second session;
31st January 2025 for participation in the selection process of the third session.

For Ph.D. programmes offered in apprenticeship format, applicants must be aged less than 30 at the moment of employment. Applicants interested in this kind of programme must select “apprenticeship programme” when they fill out their application. Selected applicants are admitted to the programme without any scholarship and they are hired by the company with an apprenticeship contract having the same duration of the PhD programme.
