  Alessandro Vittorio commendatore Papacino D'Antoni

was born in Villafranca (Asti) on 20th May 1714 and died in Turin on 7th December 1786. Military engineer and member of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, in 1755 Papacino D'Antoni was appointed as director of Theoretical Schools of Artillery, succeeding to Antonio Bertola. In 1784 Papacino D'Antoni became liutenant general of the Body of Artilliers.
Among his works on military architecture and artillery machines, we can remember an important work in six volumes, Dell'architettura militare per le Regie Scuole teoriche di artiglieria e fortificazione (On the military architecture for the Royal Theoretical Schools of artillery and fortifications) (1778-1782).
