  Gianni Jarre

Gianni Jarre   was born in Turin on 20th September 1924. Jarre graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1948 and started soon to work as an assistant of Theoretic Mechanics and Mechanics Applied to Machines. From 1958 Jarre became a permanent professor
  first in Aerodynamics then in Gasdynamics at the Aerospace School of the Polytechnic of Turin. Some years later (1960-1978) the professor had to teach also classes in Mechanics Applied to Machines, and Machines for Civil Students. The Academy of Sciences of Turin nominated Jarre as a correspondant member (1960) and later national full member (1983).

During years 1968-1970 Jarre was a consultant of EC for an enquiry on the European space industry.

At the Politecnico di Torino he became director of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Applied Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Gasdynamics (1973-1979).

Since 1974 Jarre had been director of the Centre for Studies on the Aerodynamics of Fluids of the National Council of Researched in Turin.

In addition, we can remember that Jarre was a member in the Board of Directors at the Insean (Naval pool) of the Ministry for Merchant Navy of Rome, president of the Scientific Council in the Study Centre for Reseaches on Propulsion and Energetics (Cnpm) of Milan, member of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Studies in Naval Techniques (Cetena) in Genoa.

Jarre died on 8th October 1988.
