  Nicodemo Jadanza

Nicodemo Jadanza   from humble origins, he was born in Campolattaro (Benevento) on 14th October 1847. In 1869 Jadanza graduated in Maths at the University of Naples.
After winning a competition of the Military Topographic Institute (1874), Jadanza was nominated as a geographic engineer help, with residence in Florence, main head office of the Institute.

He was professor of Theoretical Geodetics at the Royal Industrial Museum. In 1881 Jadanza became a temporary professor of Practical Geometry at the University of Turin and later at the Application School for Engineers (1887).

Full-time member of the Italian Geodetic Commission, correspondant member of the Pontificial Academy of Naples, national member of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, Jadanza had managed for ten years the periodical magazine "Rivista di topografia e catasto" (Topography and cadastrial magazine).

The professor died in Turin on 22nd February 1920.

The most important part of his studies refers to the theory and conceiving of dioctric instruments, mainly the plesiotelescope, the reduced earth binoculars, and the reduced binoculars.
